Goals

I want to separate my HI FI audio goals from my goals in amateur radio in general. I have been active in amateur radio for a number of years. Most of the time I was looking for audio that would break through a DX pile up. I still use this audio when that rare country comes on that I need for an all time new one. I have worked all but one of the entities  on the ARRL list. If a new one were to come up, I would not use the ESSB or HI-FI audio, what ever you want to call it to work the station, but would disconnect my audio rack including the condenser microphone and hook up my trusty Heil HC-4 and start the ear splitting audio again. My audio goals are as follows:

(1) I want to use all possibilities of the newer technology and equipment available today without spending thousands of dollars. Expenditures should be within the limits of most hams.

(2) I want my signals to be as clean, clear and zero beat as I can make them. I want signals that can be enjoyed by the majority of hams using normal transceivers of the day, without modification. I want the pass band of my transmitted audio to match the pass band of most of the hams listening.

(3) I want to inspire others to enjoy this part of the hobby and do as much as possible to help my fellow amateurs to achieve his or her own audio goals. I will do this by being on the air and listen to problems of other hams working in audio and do my best to evaluate them and make appropriate suggestions. I will also do my best to keep this web page updated and relevant for others to use to improve their own audio.

(4) I will refrain from causing undue interference to my fellow hams, and use only sufficient power to make my audio signals received by the listener enjoyable a pleasing.

 (5) I want everyone to understand that the reception and transmission of amateur radio signals is supposed to be a hobby and fun. What makes for good audio is still a very subjective thing or opinion. The number of audio devices does not necessarily equate to good or bad audio. The underlying spirit of amateur radio is and I hope will continue to be experimentation and a pastime of cooperation and fellowship between people with similar goals and values.
